Elite Tactic Cards

(page 17) Elite tactics cards cannot be discarded.

Some in-game effects enable you to replace your tactics with their elite versions, which are more powerful than their normal counterparts. If an effect requires you to discard a tactic, you may only discard regular tactic cards.

Tactic Cards and Tech Upgrade

(page 17) During a battle, players tally up all the damage inflicted by their tactic cards and tech upgrade. There is no prescribed order for resolving these effects; players have the flexibility to resolve them as they see fit.

Wormholes Adjacency

(page 21) Wormholes are one-way only. Players can move from a living galaxy token to other sectors, but not vice versa.

Develop a technology

(page 15) Technologies can only be gained at the end of a Research action, unless specifically allowed by an effect.

Tactics Card Initiative Ties with Orbital or Ground Defense

If a tactics card shares the same initiative as Orbital or Ground Defense, the defense still applies. Consider it as follows: all effects are applied first, followed by the simultaneous application of all damage.

Tactics Card Initiative Ties with Retreat

If a tactics card shares the same initiative as Retreat, damage is inflicted before any retreats occur.

Action Cards and Colony Restrictions

In general, action cards bypass colony restrictions. While some action cards explicitly state “ignoring restrictions,” others naturally disregard colony limitations when affecting colonies.

For instance, consider the card Progress Plan, which allows you to "Replace up to 2 of your colonies on the board with Military or Science colonies from your empire board." This action also overlooks restrictions regarding which colonies can typically be placed on a specific sector.

Action Cards and Movement Restrictions

If an action card, such as Tactical Withdrawal, enables you to move units “ignoring restrictions,” it supersedes game rules, including considerations like Living Storms, pin-down effects, requirements for ground unit transportation, and so forth. However, it's essential to adhere to any specific instructions outlined on the card.
